How it works
From the back of the closet to the next child — in four steps.
Outgrown handles the sorting, matching, and delivery. You just tell us roughly what you have and how you want to send it.
- Step 1
Start a Donation
Tell us what you have and approximately how much you’d like to donate. No itemizing.
- Step 2
Pack It Up
Use your own box or request an Outgrown donation bag mailed to your door.
- Step 3
Send It Our Way
Choose the method available where you live — prepaid shipping, drop-off, a community collection event, or pickup where offered.
- Step 4
See the Difference
Track your donation and learn about the communities and organizations receiving clothing through Outgrown.

- Do I need to list every item?
- No. Choose the categories that apply and a rough size — Small, Medium, Large, or Extra large. Volunteers count and sort everything when it arrives.
- Is my donation tax-deductible?
- Outgrown provides a donation receipt for your records. Tax-exempt status and receipt language are shown on your receipt; Outgrown does not assign a value to donated clothing.
- What happens to clothing that can’t be worn?
- Items that are too worn to give are sent to a textile recycling partner rather than a landfill. We report the share recycled on our impact page.
- Will I know who received my clothes?
- No — and that’s intentional. We share the region and type of organization your clothing supported, never the identity of a child or family.
- Can I donate if I’m outside a service area?
- Yes. Prepaid shipping is available almost everywhere. Drop-off, events, and pickup depend on your ZIP code.
